- Venezia (deutsch: Venedig) ist eine Stadt im Nordosten Italiens. Die Altstadt von Venedig setzt sich aus 118 Inseln zusammen, zwischen denen sich unterschiedlich breite Kanäle hindurchziehen. Die Gebäude wurden auf Pfählen errichtet, die man in den Untergrund rammte. Venedig ist eine der am häufigsten von Touristen aufgesuchten Städte.
Venedig war ein große Handelsstadt und bis 1797 Hauptstadt der Republik Venedig. Venedig unterhielt die meisten Handels- und Kriegsschiffe. Der Adel profitierte vom Handel mit Luxuswaren, Gewürzen, Salz und Weizen. Venedig war Finanzzentrum und dominierte ein Kolonialreich, das von Oberitalien bis Kreta und zeitweise bis nach Zypern reichte. Nach französischer und österreichischer Herrschaft wurde Venedig 1866 ein Teil Italiens.
Auf seinem Heimweg von Istrien radelte Manfred nach Venedig und stellte fest, dass es in Venedig keine Straßen gibt, auf denen er kontinuierlich radeln könnte! :o)
Venezia (English: Venice) is a town in north-eastern Italy. The historic centre of Venice is made up of 118 islands, between which differently wide channels pass through. The buildings were built on stilts that are rammed into the ground. Venice is famous for the beauty of its art and architecture. It is one of the towns most visited by tourists.
Venice was a major trading town, and until 1797 the capital of the Republic of Venice. Venice entertained the most merchant ships and warships. The nobility profited from the trade in luxury goods, spices, salt and wheat. Venice was financial center and dominated a colonial empire, which extended from northern Italy to Crete and at times up to Cyprus. After the French and Austrian rule, in 1866 Venice became a part of Italy.
