Wesergebirge - Portakanzel, Jakobsberg, Nammer Kopf

• Jakobsberg and Nammer Kopf are mountains in the Weser Mountains. The Weser Mountains are a low mountain range in the Weser Uplands. The ridge-like Weser Mountains are made of coral oolite and are richly forested with beech trees. On its southern side it has steep mountain sides with rock faces below the ridges. The sandstone cliff sloping to the west is called Portakanzel. The porta pulpit was prepared as a viewing platform in 1877 and offers a good view of the Weser breakthrough valley Porta Westfalica and the Kaiser Wilhelm monument. From 1881 to 1957 iron ore was mined in the Weser Mountains. Some remains of the mines are still there.

• Kampffmeyer-Mühlen GmbH was one of the largest German suppliers of grain milling products for the food industry and the baking industry. The company's main, protected traditional brands included “Aurora”, “Gloria”, “Diamant” and “Rosenmehl”. The history of the Kampffmeyer mills goes back to the Middle Ages. The former windmills and water mills were transformed into modern and efficient mills during the Industrial Revolution.
But in 2013, Hamelin's more than 1,200-year mill history came to an end. The operation of the Kampffmeyer mills at the Hamelin harbor was no longer profitable and had to be stopped. The machines were dismantled in 2015. Since then the buildings have been empty and abandoned.

Hameln - Altstadt

• Hamelin is a town on the river Weser in Lower Saxony, Germany.
The town is famous for the folk tale of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, a medieval story that tells of the rat-catcher and of the tragedy that befell the town in the thirteenth century: Hamelin lost all children of the town. The version written by the Brothers Grimm made it popular throughout the world. Although Hamelin has a fine medieval town with some remarkable buildings, the main tourist attraction is the tale of the Pied Piper. In summer Sundays, the tale is performed by actors in the town centre.

• There are numerous gravel ponds near Tündern. Salt leaching by the Weser created gravel sands up to 40 m thick underground. Gravel sand from the Weser has been mined here since the 1950s. Dismantling is carried out using floating grabs. The gravel works in Tündern produces around 300,000 t of Weser gravel every year.

• In 1915, the four-building limeworks was built on Schüsselgrund near Horn and consisted of the lime kiln that is still visible today, a bridge and outbuildings and two silos. After 42 years of production, production stopped in 1957. In 1994, after the bridge and outbuildings were demolished, the two silo towers were blown up. The concrete lime kiln is the only thing left today. Today the old industrial relic stands alone and abandoned in the middle of the forest.
