Brevet 600 km "Die Acht von Lohne" - 2016 (Germany, Netherlands)
• Startort/location: Lohne, Emsland | • Startzeit/date: 8:00, 25.06.2016 „Die Acht von Lohne“ ist ein 600 km langer Radmarathon, der als Brevet geradeltt wird. Die Route hat die Form einer Acht (daher der Name). Start, Ziel, sowie die 300km-Kontrollstelle ist der Ort Lohne. Der erste Kreis der Acht führt durch die Niederlande, der zweite Kreis durch Deutschland. Während des Radelns des ersten 300km-Kreises regnete es fast ununterbrochen. Die Manfred hatte Reifenpannen. Ein Sturz veranlasste ihn dann, den Radmarathon nach den ersten 300km abzubrechen. „Die Acht von Lohne“ is a cycling marathon with a route length of 600 km, running as a brevet. The route has the shape of the figure eight. (thus the name -> acht=eight). Start, finish, and the 300km-control-point is the place Lohne. The first circle of the eight leads through the Netherlands, the second circle through Germany. During pedaling the first 300km-circle it rained almost continuously. Manfred had flat tires. Brevet 300 km "Grachtentour" - 2016 (Germany, Netherlands)
• Startort/location: Lohne, Emsland | • Startzeit/date: 8:00, 21.05.2016 "Grachtentour" ist ein Radmarathon mit einer Streckenlänge von 300 km, der als Brevet ausgeführt wird. Die Radltour führt durch die deutsche Grafschaft Bentheim und durch die Province Overijssel in den Niederlanden. Dieses Mal war Manfreds Grachtentour bereits nach 170 km zu Ende. Auf einer gepflasterten Ortsdurchfahrt in Overijssel brach der Carbon-Rahmen der Balaton-Couch durch. Nur Fußmarsch, Bahn- und Busfahrt führten zum Zielpunkt. The bicycle tour leads through the German county Bentheim and through the Province Overijssel of the Netherlands. This time, Manfred's canal tour was already after 170 kms to an end. On a cobbled thoroughfare in Overijssel the carbon frame of the Balaton couch broke through. Start-Eskorte für weltreisenden Josef
Am 16.04.2016 startete der langjährige Arbeitskollege und Freund Josef ein Motorrad-Abenteuer durch Zentral- und Südost-Asien. Josef wird 19 Länder durchqueren und eine Strecke von 35.000 km zurücklegen. Sein Track führt entlang der Seidenstraße von der Türkei über den Iran, Turkmenistan, Usbekistan bis nach Kirgisien. Weiterhin wird er die Mongolei, das Altai Gebirge, Kasachstan, China, Pakistan, Nepal, Indien und Myanmar erleben. Im Dezember 2016 wird er Thailand erreichen. Mein Radlfreund Joachim Janssen war Langstrecken-Liegeradler und gern tagelang mit selbstgebauten Liegerädern unterwegs. Am Montagabend den 25.11.2013 verließ Joachim seine Wohnung in Leer auf einem Klapprad und wurde nicht mehr lebend gesehen! Am Freitag, den 13.12.2013, etwa 6 Kilometer von seiner Wohnung entfernt, fanden ihn Spaziergänger leblos. Nach Einschätzung der Polizei liegt kein Fremdverschulden vor. Joachims Tod macht mich fassungslos und tief traurig! Mit Joachim bin ich immer gerne zusammen geradelt. Bei unterwegs auftretenden Problemen habe ich stets sein riesiges Improvisationstalent bewundert ...und mir gefiel seine freundliche Art und seine sachliche Unaufgeregtheit. ...irgendwann werden wir wieder zusammen radeln ...auf derselben langen, langen Tour. My cycling-friend Joachim Janssen liked to ride long distances on home made recumbent bikes with pleasure for days on end. However, on Monday evening 25th Nov 2013 Joachim left his residence in Leer on a folding bike and was seen alive no more! On Friday 13th Dec 2013, approximately 6 kilometers from his home, walkers found him lifelessly. According to estimate of the police no crime was committed. Joachim's death makes me feel stunned and deeply saddened! Together with Joachim I always cycled with pleasure. Schloss Thienhausen
• Schloss Thienhausen wurde 1609 durch Tönnies Wolf von Haxthausen unter Einbezug einer älteren Bauanlage errichtet. Das Schloss ist ein zweiflügliges Wasserschloss im Stil der Weserrenaissance. Es steht in der Nähe von Steinheim, Nordrhein-Westfalen. Schloss Thienhausen ist in Privatbesitz und wird bewohnt. • Castle Thienhausen was established 1609 by Tönnies Wolf von Haxthausen with inclusion of an older construction arrangement. The castle is a double-winged water castle in style of the Weser Renaissance. It stands close to Steinheim, North Rhine-Westphalia. Castle Thienhausen is in private property and is inhabited. Hexenbürgermeisterhaus
• Das Bürgerhaus im Stil der Weserrenaissance wurde 1571 in Lemgo, Nordrhein-Westfalen, erbaut. Der dort lebende, damalige Bürgermeister und Jurist Hermann Cothamm war eifriger und unerbittlicher Hexenjäger. Somit erhielt das Gebäude schon damals seinen jetzigen Namen: Hexenbürgermeisterhaus. Die Hexenverfolgung fand in Lemgo bis 1681 statt. Im Stadtarchiv sind rund 200 Hexen-Prozessakten erhalten. Gemäß der Dokumente wurden in Lemgo etwa 250 Menschen, meistens Frauen, als Hexen getötet. Tatsächlich dürfte die Zahl aber erheblich höher sein. Unter der Folter wurde jeweils ein Geständnis erzwungen, dem die Verbrennung auf dem Scheiterhaufen folgte. Lemgo gehört zu den Städten, in denen die Hexenprozesse besonders intensiv geführt wurden. • The town house in architectural style of the Weser Renaissance was built 1571 in Lemgo, North Rhine-Westphalia. The mayor and lawyer Hermann Cothamm, living former there, was a keen and relentless witch-hunter. Already at that time the building received its current name: Hexenbürgermeisterhaus (Witches mayor house). The witch-hunt in Lemgo took place till 1681. In the town archive about 200 witch case documents are conserved. According to the documents about 250 people, mostly women, were killed as witches. However, really the number might be much higher. Under torture, in each case, a confession was forced. Then the burning at the stake followed. Schloss Hasperde
• Hasperde ist ein kleines Dorf im Weserbergland mit etwa 300 Einwohnern. Das Schloss wurde 1675 durch die Adelsfamilie Hake erbaut. Heute wird das Schloss als Senioren-Residenz genutzt. Es ist in einem exzellenten Zustand. • Hasperde is a small village of Weserbergland with about 300 inhabitants. The castle was built in 1675 by the aristocratic family Hake. Today the castle is used as a residence for senior citizens.
