Sankt Petersburg

Saint Petersburg (short: SPb, Russian: Санкт-Петербург) is a city of Russia located on the Neva River at the head of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea. It is informally known as Piter (Пи́тер). SPb is the northernmost city of the world with over one million people. SPb is often described as the most Westeuropean city of Russia.
From 1924 to 1991, in honor of Lenin, the founder of the Soviet Union, the city was called Leningrad (Ленинград).

An attractive entrance (?). It appears this facility is in the process of being steam cleaned after many years of pollution, etc. The section which has been cleaned is quite lovely. When the project is completed, it will all be quite attractive. I must say, I'm impressed at how well St. Petersburg, as well as Moscow have maintained their lovely buildings throughout the years. Since both appear to be very large industrial cities, I imagine the cleaning and maintenance of all the lovely structures is an ongoing project. They are truly to be commended for their outstanding efforts in this regard.
    Luv ya!
    Sweet Caroline
