WN2010 - The ride

Legend cycling marathon (brevet) "White Nights" 18th-22nd June 2010
The brevet was held by the bicycle club "Velorus-Marathon" on a circular route with start and destination in Vologda, Russia (1200 km in 90 hours)
across the cities Totma, Nikolsk, Manturovo, Kostroma and Yaroslavl.

Легенда веломарафона (бревета) «Белые ночи» 18-22 июня 2010 года
Бревет проводится клубом «Велорусь-марафон» по кольцевому маршруту Вологда-Вологда (1200 км за 90 часов)
через Тотьму, Никольск, Мантурово, Кострому и Ярославль.

      An overtaking truck got back too early and pushed Dmitry of the street.
      With the crash Dmitry was injured so strongly that he could not cycle on and broke off the bicycle marathon.

    How local people reacted to your exotic couch?

      The local people were all friendly, interested and helpfully. Children and young people wanted to sit test on the couch :-))
      When I had no more patches to repair my flat tire, the man on the photo took a defective tube with home and fixed it there!!!
      I got help, although we could not communicate with words. I speak no Russian and the man spoke neither in German nor in English.

      Yes dear Olga, I had 9 flat tires but only 5 tubes with me. So I had to stick patches. My stock of patches was also running low!

      Yes dear Olga, please explain to me, why the Russians insert their bathtubs always in the middle of the roadway :o)

        Bathtubs? It that the life sweet did not seem. I am not surprised, but it and for me remains a riddle: why Russian people behave as barbarians.
        At us domes of churches cover with gold, but around all in a dirt.

        Whether is easier to go 1200 km on a bicycle-couch, than on a usual bicycle?

          Dear Helen, with both types of bicycles, it is not easy to ride 1200 km :-)
          But I am sure that with a usual road bike, on the terrible country roads, I would have got neck problems.
          With the couch I had no physical problems
          - no neck problem
          - no pain in the wrist
          - no sit complaints!
          On long distances, a recumbent is really much more comfortable than a road bike!

    Schön, wieder Lebenszeichen von dir zu sehen. Noch so eine Tour und die Farbe deiner Beine passt zur Couch.

      Moin, moin Andreas, die Beine, Arme und Gesicht hatte ich mit Sonnencreme eingecremt. An die Lippen hatte ich nicht gedacht. Nun habe ich Brandblasen auf der Unterlippe :-)
      Die Couch ist eine echt bequeme Sonnenliege :-)))
