• The town house in architectural style of the Weser Renaissance was built 1571 in Lemgo, North Rhine-Westphalia. The mayor and lawyer Hermann Cothamm, living former there, was a keen and relentless witch-hunter. Already at that time the building received its current name: Hexenbürgermeisterhaus (Witches mayor house).
The witch-hunt in Lemgo took place till 1681. In the town archive about 200 witch case documents are conserved. According to the documents about 250 people, mostly women, were killed as witches. However, really the number might be much higher. Under torture, in each case, a confession was forced. Then the burning at the stake followed. Lemgo belongs to the towns in which the witch processes were conducted especially intensely.

• For almost 300 years, the creek Niese near tje village Schieder was used by the Plöger family to produce paper. The paper mill building dates back to 1703. The paper production machines are powered by two water wheels.
Until 1870/72, hand-made paper in various formats was produced for law firms, the post office and for many administrations. From the second half of the 19th century, the invention of the paper machine (four-wire paper machine 1798, round wire machine 1805) and the raw material groundwood (1843/44) led to the mass production of paper by machine. Towards the end of the 19th century, paper production by hand was discontinued. In its place, the manufacture of file covers took place using a round wire machine powered by water power. The almost complete machine-technical equipment dates from that time (approx. 1870-1890), because the production of file covers was continued under almost unchanged conditions by 8 generations of the Plöger family until 1989.
