Senne - Emsquellen, Krollbach-Bifurkation

• Die Senne ist eine Landschaft in der Region Ostwestfalen-Lippe des deutschen Bundeslandes Nordrhein-Westfalen. Sie liegt am Westhang des Teutoburger Waldes. Auf dem sandigen Boden der Senne befindet sich die bedeutendste zusammenhängende Heidelandschaft in Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Das Quellwasser des Flusses Ems tritt aus sogenannten Sickerquellen aus dem sandigen Boden. Die sandigen Quellen der Ems sind deswegen dynamisch, denn der Sand lässt sich vom fließenden Wasser leicht forttragen. So tragen die Quellen die umgebenden Sandschichten allmählich ab. Die Ems mündet nach 371 km in der Nordsee.
Der Krollbach weist in der Senne eine seltene Gabelung auf. Das Wasser des Krollbaches teilt sich in zwei Fluss-Systeme auf. Ein Teil fließt nach 480 km durch den Rhein in die Nordsee, der andere Teil fließt nach 440 km durch die Ems in die Nordsee.

• The Senne is a landscape in the East Westphalia-Lippe region of the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It lies on the western slope of the Teutoburg Forest. The most important contiguous heathland in North Rhine-Westphalia is located on the sandy soil of the Senne.
The spring water of the Ems river emerges from so-called seepage springs in the sandy soil. The sandy springs of the Ems are therefore dynamic, because the sand can easily be carried away by the flowing water. The springs gradually wear away the surrounding layers of sand. The Ems flows into the North Sea after 371 km.
The Krollbach creek has a rare fork in the Senne. The water of the Krollbach divides into two river systems. One part flows through the Rhine into the North Sea after 480 km, the other part flows through the Ems into the North Sea after 440 km.
