Calenberger Land - Schloss Marienburg

• Das Calenberger Land ist eine sanft hügelige Landschaft südwestlich von Hannover.
Die Marienburg ist eine neugotische Schlossanlage auf dem Marienberg im Calenberger Land. Der Welfe König Georg V. von Hannover ließ die Schlossanlage von 1858 bis 1869 als Jagdschloss und späteren Witwensitz erbauen. Die Schlossanlage wurde von den Welfen, dem ältesten Fürstenhaus Europas, als Sommerresidenz genutzt.

Marienburg is a neo-Gothic palace complex on the Marienberg hill in the Calenberg region. The Welf King George V of Hanover had the palace built between 1858 and 1869 as a hunting lodge and later a widow's residence. The palace complex was used as a summer residence by the House of Welf, the oldest princely house in Europe.
