Ready for Halloween. My question: are these to scare away the ghosts or to invite them in? :-)

      Oh, Gypsy!
With the answer of your question I was demanded totally too much!  :-|
Because me, however, the answer also interests, I tried to read me smartly. :-)
Halloween is the result from religious traditions and from ancient heathenish traditions.
      - In the religious origin to All Saints' Day the eternal light should shine to the good souls of dead persons.
      - In the heathenish origin, fire and light is used to cast out evil spirits.
Thus, dear Gypsy, I came to the result, that the illuminated pumpkins should keep the spirits away.  :-))
