San Leo ist ein italienischer Ort in der Provinz Rimini in der Nähe von San Marino und nahe der Adria in der Region Emilia-Romagna.
Die eindrucksvolle Festung von San Leo liegt weithin sichtbar auf einer Höhe von 600 Metern.
Der Ort erhielt seinen Namen nach Bischof Leo, der im Jahre 360 starb. Er soll hier das Christentum gepredigt haben.

San Leo is a comune in the Province of Rimini in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 135 km southeast of Bologna and about 35 km south of Rimini.
San Leo is home to a large fortress at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level.
The village was named after the Bishop Leo, who died in 360. He should have preached Christianity here.

      Like San Marino, San Leo was also a sanctuary of the Christians against the pursuit of the Romans.
      Only in 1860 the enclave San Leo was taken by Italian troops and belongs since then to Italy.
