Radschnellweg OWL

Thanks for the comment, dear Gypsy!
The bicycle-fast-way will be not finished before 2016.

East Westphalia-Lippe is a rural region. From my view already today there are fast and save possibilities to ride a bicycle between the towns.  :-)

However, the towns are problematic! For example, riding a bike in and around Herford is a disaster and perilous. The motor roads to Herford and the new by-pass roads are very well built multi-lanes. However, these roads were closed for cyclists! Existing cycle tracks end at these motor roads! Then riding further or crossing is impossible. Also there are no signs that a used cycle track will end as a dead end. As a local-ignorant cyclist, it is almost impossibly, to find a way through Herford.

To allow the mobility of cyclists, the form of the cycle tracks in the towns of OWL must change! The cycle tracks in the towns should be formed such, that these by the car drivers are readily identifiable as a travel track. Today the cyclists are led over footpaths with curb stone edges, so that car drivers not notice the difference between a footpath and a cycle track with fast riding cyclists at all. So nearly at every crossroad cyclists are ignored! I am glad every time, that after riding through Herford I'm not in a hospital and still alive. :o)

Thus very briefly: It is nonsense to build bicycle-fast-ways which end at the town borders!
